 San Antonio Downtown Bike Rides

Two-wheeling your way through San Antonio gives you the opportunity to see the sights up close at your own pace. Check out the San Antonio Downtown Bike Rides maps HERE. Try out the five routes, ranging from a quick spin to those that will require more pedal power.
Bicyclists observe the same traffic regulations as motor vehicles, and we ask that you take all safety precautions, such as signaling turns, wearing a helmet, and braking for pedestrians. Be sure to take water with you, wear sunscreen and lock your bike when parking. Should you and your bike need a lift, hop onto a VIA bus with a bike rack.

San Antonio B-cycle

Bike sharing makes it economical and convenient to use bikes for trips that are too far to walk but too short to drive. San Antonio B-cycle is one of the first large-scale municipal bike sharing systems in the United States. With 52 special bike stations (B-stations) in downtown San Antonio, and along the Mission Reach,  in highly visible and trafficked areas, you can use a B-cycle to run an errand, grab lunch, travel from the bus stop to your office, or just get some fresh air. There are as many reasons to use a B-cycle! Click HERE to view a demo of how it works!

The City of San Antonio’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is working to raise the level of cycling and walking for daily travel and improve cycling and pedestrian safety. By concentrating on accessibility, directness, and continuity, our goals are to improve and expand infrastructure while raising awareness about “muscle-powered” transportation. This is achieved through a coordinated effort of planning, engineering, policy development, and public education.Click the image to visit the San Antonio Bikes page or visit them on Facebook.

Greenway Trails

San Antonio’s Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System, named after former Mayor Howard W. Peak, to date incorporates approximately 85 miles of planned trails in an overall system goal that could ultimately yield 130 miles of hike and bike trails along the creekways. Greenway trails are a great place to ride your bike safely without competing with cars and parking is also available.
