So Here it Goes…
Three months, into the year and we are noticing that there isn’t a long wait for our favorite machine anymore and there are plenty of treadmills free for the taking. The crickets are making better use of the gym than us. What happened? Many have lost motivation- maybe because it turns out to be more difficult than anticipated. It hurts, it’s exhausting and we are simply too busy. We just need to be reminded why we started in the first place.
It Makes us Strong
Exercising with weights or weighted equipment will develop your muscles and increase strength. As we strengthen up we accomplish more in our daily lives than ever before.
To Lose Weight
Obesity is one of the leading causes of health issues and it’s not exactly a secret that exercise is a major part of the solution. However, this is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. Working out for a month straight until you’re burnt out just to fit into a bathing suit for spring break is not a healthy way to go about it.
It Lowers our Heart Rate
Cardio and endurance exercises will help to lower heart rate and in turn increases your efficiency, longevity and metabolism. We cannot control how long we will live, but we can have a better quality of life for as long as possible.
Increases Energy
When are bodies are used on a regular basis it begins to compensate and evolve becoming a very well oiled machine. This allows us to expend our energy more efficiently throughout the day. Bad news for the coffee industry but great news for us.
Decrease Risks of Heart Disease
When we lower our body fat percentage, by losing fat and building muscle we are also giving ourselves the gift of a healthy heart! Even those who may have inherited a greater risk for heart problems can reduce the chances greatly with regular physical activity.
Reduces Stress
A combination of resistance, cardio, yoga and rest will lower our blood pressure as well as aid in reducing stress and can even help those who suffer from depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.
Increases Self Confidence
With all the positive reactions that come from the discipline and hard work, we can’t help but feel better about ourselves. More consistently optimistic moods soon follow. There are people in your life that depend on you for love, friendship, guidance, work, etc. When you are healthy and energetic you are more reliable and can think clearer. Your projects, chores or errands gradually start getting accomplished with little to no effort.
Moment of Truth…
So, if you were to ask yourself, “Is it worth the pain?” the answer is YES. Yes, it absolutely is worth it because a little bit of strenuous activity goes a long, long way. Of course, the only way to find out if any of this is true is to actually go through with it. We’ve heard it all before, we just have to take action… then keep that ball rolling.
